about us
Sunday Modern is a contemporary art community based in West Los Angeles, founded by three artists working across the industry. We bring artists and their work together through open calls, group exhibitions, and online features, with an ongoing interest in photography and its overlap with other mediums. Having worked within the art world ourselves, we understand the importance of accessible exhibition opportunities, independent galleries, and the creative spaces that give our neighborhoods their character. We strive to keep our programming affordable and welcoming, particularly for emerging artists, while bringing together local and international perspectives. Our aim is to create more opportunities for artists to experiment, share their work, and be part of an open and evolving arts scene.

Isabella Stubbs
I am a curator and photographer with over 10 years of experience working primarily in digital photography with a growing practice in analog. I also explore crochet, ceramics, and other mediums. My work began with my connection to the ocean and landscape, and has evolved through experimentation. With a focus on composition, perspective, and natural light. I’m interested in the way photography preserves while still showing how every moment is slightly different and also fleeting. As a curator, I’m drawn to work that can evoke a memory, spark a feeling, or capture something unexpected, strange, magical, or visually striking.

I am a multidisciplinary artist and curator with over 15 years of experience in design, creative direction, and marketing. I graduated from East Carolina University’s School of Art and Design and have worked across painting, photography, illustration, textiles, digital media, ceramics, writing and more. My recent work includes the release of an artist’s book reflecting on the material intersection of film photography and poetry. My curatorial approach is informed by the same cross-disciplinary context.
